A Daisy Kind of Love

Thank you Freya Ingva on Unsplash for this Daisy picture.
“A Daisy Kind of Love” by Joan Y. Edwards
When I was a child, I did the little game with a daisy. You pull off a petal and say, “He loves me.” You pull off another petal and say, “He loves me not.” You continue going until the last petal falls and you hope it’s on “He loves me.”

Sometimes in real life you might feel that way, too about a real person. Some days it seems like they love you. Other days it seems like they don’t.

Or perhaps you are the one divvying out love. Some days you love someone; other days, you are not so sure about it.

And it’s okay to feel like that. you are human. Some days you are “iffy” days.

God’s love for you is an every moment love. As a human being, you are not perfect. You have at least one fault. (I have a zillion)
If you aren’t feeling love for other people, perhaps it’s because you haven’t taken time to do something good for yourself. If you make sure your “Love tank” is filled with God’s love and your love for yourself, then you will probably be more able to do something loving for another person.

When I was caring for my Mother, I discovered that I needed time to focus on me…get time to rest and only be responsible for me. Do something fun for me to refill that inner bank of love and energy. God replenishes it for us each morning. However, some experiences in life may seem to zap your energy and make you feel unloved and unappreciated. You may not have opened the cap on the gas tank of your body, mind, and spirit to let in God’s loving supply of whatever it is that you feel you are in need of.  God gives you an abundance of all you need.

The most important thing is that you realize that God loves you. He loves you all the time. God’s love is not a Daisy kind of love. He loves you when you’re bad or good. His healing mercies go with you wherever you go.

The greatest commandment says: Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Love yourself. When you are kind to yourself and treat yourself well, everything usually falls into place. And you will be more able to treat others as you treat yourself.

Sometimes you might try to control other people and say they have to love you in a certain way. The trouble is that everyone doesn’t have the same capabilities and knowledge of showing love or receiving love. They may not be able to show you they love you in a way you like or understand. You may be asking them to give you a gift that they do not have to give you. I have done that a few times in my life. Wisdom comes in being able to recognize love in the way people can show you.

So many times you may have discovered that you  not understand yourself and you don’t understand other people, either. If you talk to each other enough without blaming and judging and look for your similar intentions, You will find understanding and a basis for acceptance and love. The all the time love rather than a daisy kind of love.
