A49 Whoever Exalts Himself Will Be Humbled, Matthew 23:1-12, Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time Copyright © 2005-2008 Joan Y. Edwards. If all day long, you are only speaking words about yourself, it is time to turn on your "ears" and close up the "mouth." It's time to listen to another person. My Granddad Meyer was a very quiet man. I asked him why he was so quiet and didn't talk much. He said, "When I listen to others, I know what I know and I learn what they know. It makes me a lot smarter." Two times today, instead of telling someone all about what you did, ask them about what they did. You will cheer them up and help yourself, too. It's a win-win situation.
