Mr. Chicken crowed proudly, “Lovely, simply lovely. You have talent, real talent. Someday, you’ll be a Star. Yes, sirree – a big STAR.” Then he strolled away whistling Flip’s song and swinging his cane.

Flip waddled in a daze dreaming about being a STAR. He thought, “Everyone will come to hear me play my song. Grandma will be so proud of me. She’ll clap her hands and say, ‘That’s my grandson.’”

Flip Flap Floodle is treasured by children 2-8 years old. Flip believes his song will save him. He never gives up, even when Mr. Fox swallows him.

When things seem grim, Flip teaches us to believe in ourselves – our song. He helps us realize that we can succeed with perseverance and that sometimes we might even need a little help from pepper. I believe that God is “our pepper.” He is the help we need in life. Flip Flap Floodle’s story doesn’t say that in those exact words, but that’s what I believe.
