Luke 21:5-19 New American Bible

Luke 21:5-19 New International Version Bible Gateway

††††††††† Have you ever been in trouble, and you didnít know what to say to explain yourself. However, when you started talking, God just placed the right words in your mouth. This is what Jesus is talking about in this Gospel.

††††††††† Teachers often worry about how to explain a lesson to their students. They plan and plan.Sometimes, when they get in the classroom, they find that they change their lesson and do something different. It is not what they planned, but it teaches the lesson better. Now that is divine inspiration provided by the Holy Spirit.

††††††††† Perhaps you and a friend had a misunderstanding. You didnít know how to tell them you were sorry. However, when the two of you got together, you said just the right words. You did just the right thing to make peace. This is divine inspiration provided by the Holy Spirit.

†††††† †††Joan of Arc went to her death for her beliefs. Her body died, but her soul lives even now. She was not afraid, because she knew that God would take care of her in heaven. She knew that earthly things were not as important as her soul. This is divine inspiration provided by the Holy Spirit.

††††††††† The ones who do evil things to harm Christians need to watch out. God takes care of his people. He inspires his people. He gives them words to say.He shows them what to do. Most of the time, Godís foils the plans of evildoers. Jesus says that not a hair on your head will be destroyed. If you have faith, even as small as a mustard seed, he will not disappoint you.Your faith will save you and put you in heaven with God.Do not worry about earthly things. The only thing you need to worry about is your spiritual life.

Do unto other people as you would have them do unto you. This is the way to show respect.†† Being kind to others gives Glory to God himself. When you show respect for yourself and others, you are on the right path to heaven. Then you rise up to heaven at the end of your life.

†††††††††† Choose Good.Say no to evil.

†††††††††† Choose to Share.Say no to stinginess.

†††††††††† Choose to Respect.Say no to drugs, hitting, swearing, stealing, killing, and lying.

2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 New American Bible

2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 New International Version Bible Gateway

Work quietly for your own food and mind your own business.

††††††††† In this letter, St. Paul told his people how disappointed he was that they were not following in his footsteps. He was a good model for them to follow. He worked night and day for his food.He did not say bad things about others.

Sometimes it is hard to judge other people and decide that they are not doing things the way you think they should be done.†† If you control other peopleís actions, then you are responsible for their actions, too.†† You have enough to do to keep yourself straight without trying to tell other people what to do.If they ask your advice, thatís different. You can tell them what you think would be good.

If someone passes along gossip to you, the best thing you can do is stop the chain of words.Donít spread the words of untruth about others.Think about what you would want someone to do if the rumor was about you. What you do, what you say, and how you act may come back to you. What goes around in life, comes around. If you send out goodness, kindness, and helpfulness, it will come back to you.On the other hand, if you send out evil, evil may come back to you.

Treat other people like you want to be treated. The Golden Rule Ė Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - pays off time after time.

Say the ďOur Father.Ē Then thank God for his gift of forgiveness.††† Tell him how much you love him.Ask him to help you grow closer to him.Tell him you are proud to be able to share his goodness by helping others. He will take you by the hand and be with you every step of the way.If you are too tired to walk, he will carry you.Follow in Christís footsteps. They will lead you to your heavenly Father in heaven.

ďOur Father, who art in Heaven,

Hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day, our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.Amen.Ē
