“I Am Not Worthy”
A centurion, a commander
of one hundred soldiers, was very concerned about his dying slave. He sent elders to ask Jesus
to come and save the life of his valuable slave. His slave had been a very good servant
helping him and the Jewish people to build a temple. Jesus
went towards the centurion’s home. As he
got near, the centurion sent word to Jesus,
“I am not worthy for you to come under my roof, say but the word and my servant
will be healed.” Similar words to these you
will hear the priest and the people say right before Communion during Mass. “Lord, I am not
worthy to receive you. Say but the word
and my soul will be healed.” The centurion knew that Jesus
had the power to cure his slave and friend by just saying the word. He didn’t feel he was worthy to come to Jesus or for Jesus
to come into his home. Jesus can come into your heart. He can
cure you and your family and friends.
You are worthy today
because Jesus died on the cross for
you. Because Jesus
died on the cross, your sins are forgiven.
Because Jesus died on the cross
you can choose a new life with God in heaven. Because of God’s love for you, he
has given you a choice of following in his Son’s footsteps. If you follow Jesus,
you will love God above everything and love your neighbor as yourself.
Pray the “Our Father”
and thank God for healing you of every sickness of the mind, body, and soul.
“Our Father, who
art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy
kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in
heaven.
Give us this day, our
daily bread.
And forgive us our
trespasses,
As we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.”
