Jesus wants us
all to be fishers of men, not just his apostles. How can we be fishers of
men? Certainly it would be by being
helpful to others who need and want help. If you find your brother crying
because his puppy died, try to comfort him. If your sister didn’t get the part
she wanted in the school play, try to make her feel better. If the new boy down
the street speaks only Spanish, help him learn English. If a new girl moves
next door, introduce her around to your family and friends. Invite her to go to
church with you. Save up your allowance to give money to the poor at church. Sit
on your mother’s lap and tell her how much you appreciate her. Help your father
wash & wax his car. Take out the trash. While you are taking this trash
out, thank God for forgiving you and taking the trash out of your life. God
said whatever two people agree upon to ask for that he will grant it.
Pray the Our
Father and ask God to grant your world peace. Ask God to give you wisdom to
know who to help and how best to help them. God is your maker; he is
all-powerful; he is Love. He will help you.
“Our
Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed
be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will
be done,
On earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us
this day, our daily bread.
And
forgive us our trespasses,
As we
forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
