She Gave All She Had.
A woman gave two coins in the box for the poor.
She didn't have any more.
God rewarded her gift
She is in heaven now.
God is asking her to take a humble bow.
You have $5.00. It
is money you got for your birthday. It’s all the money you have. You don’t have
any money in the bank. You don’t have any hidden in your shoes or dresser. That’s
it. $5.00 is all the money you have.
A boy down the
street has $50.00 that people gave him for his birthday. He has money in the bank
to go to college that he has saved up. He has $20.00 he stashed away in an old
pair of boots.
If you and the boy
down the street put $5.00 in the collection plate, who is the most generous? Who was giving all
that he had?
Jesus said the
woman who gave two coins was giving more because she gave all she had.
You can offer
everything you have and do to God. Sometimes it is not money that God wants you
to give. He might want you to spend time doing something in his honor. You can
play with your baby sister. You can open the car door for your Mother. You can
read your favorite book to your cousins at a sleepover. You can write a short
note to your grandmother who lives far away. You can get someone who is hurt.
He may want you to
share your talents. You can teach others to do something you can do easily. Perhaps
you can teach someone to ride a bike. You can help someone memorize a Bible
verse. You can join the Children’s Choir. If your church doesn’t have one, you
can ask your pastor about starting one.
Whatever you do, do
it for God. Whatever you have, share at least part of it with God. Spend time
with God and his people. God will reward you. You will always have enough of
whatever you need when you share with God and his people.
Say the “Our
Father” and ask God to help you share with others.
“Our Father, who
art in Heaven,
Hallowed
be Thy name.
Thy
kingdom come.
Thy
will be done,
On
earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread.
And
forgive us our trespasses,
As
we forgive those who trespass against us.
And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
