Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
"Let the children come to me; do not prevent them,
The disciples of Jesus tried to keep children away from him. Jesus told them to let the children come close to him. Jesus likes for you to be with him. He will always make room for you to be close to him. If Jesus spoke at the coliseum, he would see to it that you had a front row seat. He might even invite you to sit at his feet.
Have people told you that you couldn’t be in their club? Jesus includes everyone. If someone says they won’t play with you, remember that Jesus would always play with you. He will make sure every child is included. He will not leave anyone out. If you are having trouble finding someone to play with, ask Jesus to send you a good friend to play with.
You want to treat others the same way you would like to be treated. This is called “The Golden Rule.” Jesus used these words: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” He was showing his great love for his neighbors when he said to let the children come close to him.
Say the “Our Father.” Ask God to bless you, your family, and friends and help you to always stay close to him.
“Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
