Good News B30
Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary
Time
"Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?"
On this particular day the apostles and Jesus were in a boat.
The wind started blowing fiercely like a hurricane. The waves started
dumping water in the boat. The boat
rocked from side to side. The apostles
could bearly stand up and hold on. They were afraid that they would be killed
in this storm. Jesus
was sound asleep. He didn’t seem to be
worried about the storm at all. The
apostles woke Jesus up, “Don’t you
care if we drown?” Jesus
told them that they should have more faith in him. Then he stopped the wind from blowing. He calmed the waves so they were almost
still. Then they said to each other,
“Who is this that even the wind and sea obey him?”
When you get afraid, remember that Jesus is all powerful. He can help you in the scariest of
situations. Ask him to help you. Tell him you know that he can and will help
you solve the problem you are facing. He
will be there for you.
Say the “Our Father” and ask God to
help you increase your faith in your faith in God that he will help you if you
ask him.
“Our
Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed
be Thy name.
Thy
kingdom come.
Thy
will be done,
On
earth as it is in heaven.
Give
us this day, our daily bread.
And
forgive us our trespasses,
As
we forgive those who trespass against us.
And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
