Sixth Sunday of Easter

John 15:9-17 New American Bible

John 15:9-17 Bible Gateway New International Version

“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.”

Jesus says when you love one another you are truly his friends. If you look around you, it does not seem like everyone is loving one another as Jesus has loved them. However, it is not for you to judge others. God is their judge. Your job is to prevent others from hurting you and/or others again and to forgive them. You are only responsible for your actions.

God put you on this earth for a special reason. He put you here to do something that no one else can do. If you do not do it, it will not get done.  Look at your life. Look at how you act. Can someonelse tell you are a Godly person by your actions?  Can someonelse tell you are a follower of Jesus Christ by your behavior?  How do you treat your Mother and Father?  Do you help your brothers and sisters?  Do you talk politely?  Do you scream and holler when you do not get your way? Do you keep your belongings neat and tidy?  Or do you leave them for someonelse to clean up?

Decide today that you are going to be a good friend to others just as Jesus is a good friend to you. Today is a good day to clean up your act. Forgive yourself and others today. Make plans to do three things for others today  as a way to sayThank you,” to Jesus Christ for dying on the cross for you. One good way to do something for someonelse is to pray that God bless them with good health. Another good way to do something for someonelse is to ask them, “Is there something I can do to help you today?  A third way to do something for someonelse is to write them a letter or make them a card letting them know that you love them.

Sing joyfully the song, “By Our Love,” asking God to help you to love others as Jesus has loved you. Click to hear me singing By Our Love 1.wav. The words follow:

By Our Love

We are one in the Spirit.
We are one in the Lord.
We are one in the Spirit.
We are one in the Lord.
And we pray that all unity
May one day be restored.

And they'll know we are Christians
By our love, By our love.
Yes, they'll know we are Christians
By our love.

We will walk with each other.
We will walk side by side.
We will walk with each other.
We will walk side by side.
We will guard all man’s dignity
And save all man’s pride

And they'll know we are Christians
By our love, By our love.
Yes, they'll know we are Christians
By our love.

We’ll give praise to the Father
From whom all good things come,
We’ll give praise to Christ Jesus
His only son.

We’ll give praise to the Spirit
For he makes us all one!

And they'll know we are Christians
By our love, By our love.
Yes, they'll know we are Christians
By our love.

Now say theOur Fatherand ask God to help you to forgive others as He has forgiven you.

“Our Father, who art in Heaven,

Hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day, our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
