Fourth Sunday of Easter

John 10:11-18 New American Bible

John 10:11-18 Bible Gateway New International Version

I am the good shepherd.

Jesus said, I am the good shepherd. Are you the good shepherd? Would you be willing to give your life to save one sheep. Jesus was willing to die on the cross to save us, his sheep. Sheep follow the leader of their flock. They trust that he is not leading them into danger. They trust that the leader will keep them safe.

Jesus Christ enlisted the help of 12 apostles to lead his flock in his absence. Our church started with just 12 followers. There are almost two billion Christians today. In Mark 10:40-45 Jesus says we should be servants of his flock if we are to be great and earn a high place in heaven. Jesus says that God the Father will decide this who should sit at the right and left hands of God. Those who serve his flock will be rewarded by being close to him on earth and in heaven.

God will reward a mother and father who lovingly serves his spouse and children in his name. God will reward brothers and sisters who serve each other and help guard each other from harm. Every Christian is an example for others to follow. By our actions God will judge us. When we do things for other people because we love God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) he will reward us by staying close to us. Jesus Christ did not mean that only Apostles, the first priests, were to lead Gods people. He wants each and every Christian to lead Gods sheep by serving them in a joyful manner. Sing a joyful song to the Lord. Let God hear us sing. Let him know that we are leading his sheep to him. Click here to hear me singing a joyful rendition of the Our Father. The author of the music and the changed lyrics is unknown to me. If you happen to know, please share your information with me.

Our Father

Our Father who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.

Hallowed be thy name.

Be it done on earth as it is in heaven.

Hallowed be thy name.

Give us this day, our daily bread.

Hallowed be thy name.

Please forgive our trespasses.

Hallowed be thy name.

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

Hallowed be thy name.

And lead us not to the devil to be tempted.

Hallowed be thy name.

But deliver us from all that is evil.

Hallowed be thy name.

Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Hallowed be thy name.

Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Hallowed be thy name.
