The Epiphany of the Lord
Matthew 2:1-12 New American Bible
Warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, the
wise men returned to their country by another route.
Each day of our lives is like the day
when the wise men found Jesus. We give
ourselves to Jesus every day. Look at
all of the gifts we give to him. We
clean up our rooms! We wash the
dishes! We fold up the clean clothes.
We do our homework as soon as we get home from school. We play with our little brother or sister,
even though our favorite television show is on! We change the cat litter
without being asked! We give the puppy
a bath! We clean the fish tank. We do what our parents ask us right
away. These gifts may sound very small
and insignificant, but believe me each one of them is a jewel to add to a robe
for our King, Jesus Christ. Jesus, the
Son of God loves you so much and he appreciates all the little things you do
for your family here on earth. These
gifts are as valuable to him as gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Say the “Our Father” and ask God to
give you wisdom to share your gift of kindness with all the people you meet in
life.
“Our
Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.”
