John 6:37-40 New
American Bible
John
6:37-40 Bible Gateway NIV
When the new boy down the street asks to play ball with
the rest of the boys on the block, it hurts when they say, “NO. You can’t play
with us.”
When three friends
are playing, and two of them gang up to talk bad things and treat the third
person badly, it hurts.
Jesus says in this Gospel, that he will never reject you.
He will never turn you down. He will always help you or send someone to help
you. Your help may not come from the places or people you think it should come
from, but you will receive all the help you need.
If someone rejects you or says no, then say a prayer. Ask
God to fill your heart with so much love and wisdom that you do not need the
friendship of these people. Ask him to help you find interesting things to do
by yourself or with other kind people who do not reject you. Look around you on
the playground of life. For every person who says “No, I won’t play with you,” there
are 6 who will.
Spend your time enjoying being with people who care about
you and see the good things about you. Spend your time being with people who
want to be with you. Spend a little time each day in prayer to God. Thank him
for your family. Ask him to lead you to friends who will help you realize what a
great child of God you are.
Be a good friend to others. If you share your crayons,
then when you need crayons, they will be more willing to share their crayons
with you. If you let others play games with you, they will be more willing to
let you play games with them. What you do for others will come back to you.
Make certain that you are keeping your love of God above
all others and that you love your neighbor as yourself. This means you must
forgive those who reject you. You must forgive those who mistreat you. You must
forgive those who say “NO” to your requests. You must forgive yourself and not say
bad things about yourself. God loves you and he will not reject you.
Say the “Our Father” and ask God to
help you accept other people.
“Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed
be Thy name.
Thy
kingdom come.
Thy
will be done,
On
earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread.
And
forgive us our trespasses,
As
we forgive those who trespass against us.
And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
