5:13-16 Bible Gateway New International Version
“You are the light of the world.”
Jesus was talking to you. He wants you to be a light for the world. He wants you to light the way for others to
follow. He wants others to see your good
deeds. He wants others to see you
glorify our heavenly Father.
He doesn’t want you to hide your talents. He wants you to use them so others can see
them. He wants you to share your talents
to help others. He wants you to give
praise and honor to God by prayers and ceremonies at home and at church. One way to glorify God is thank God for your
many blessings. Praise God for the roof over your head, the clothes on your
body, the paper and pencils to do your homework. Thank God for your family. Thank God for your food and ask God to bless
your food before you eat. Ask God to bless your family with good health, love,
and an abundance of the necessities of life.
Another way to glorify God is by saying prayers before you go to sleep
and when you wake up. Any time of day is
a great time to glorify, thank, praise and honor to God. Showing others by your words and actions that
you love God is a great way to be a light for your world.
Say the “Our Father” and ask God to bless you and help you light the way for others to find truth and peace.
“Our
Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.”
