Matthews 24:37-44 New American Bible
“Keep watch, because you do
not know on what day your Lord will come.”
This is the first Sunday of Advent. There are four weeks to prepare your heart
for the coming of Jesus on the anniversary of His birth as a human being. You want to be prepared for him every
day. If the end of the world comes or
Jesus comes to take you to heaven, you will be ready.
God gave you the Ten Commandments to obey. He wants you to treat others like you would
treat Him. When you look closely at other people, you can see their
Godliness. If Jesus appeared right in
front of you today, would you recognize Him?
Would you see him as God’s only begotten Son sent to save you? Or would you be afraid and hide from Him and
His miracles.
When your parents ask you to do a chore
that you don’t enjoy, imagine that Jesus is asking you to do it. When you’re playing your favorite computer
game and you remember you have a lot of homework, imagine Jesus asking you to
do the homework. He says, “Fill your
head with wisdom to help my people.”
When you are so sleepy that you can’t
hold your head up, say, “Lord, thank you for loving me. I am sorry if I have done wrong today. Please forgive me. Please watch over my family and me while I sleep. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.”
If you do these things you will be ready whenever Jesus comes for you!
Say the “Our Father” and ask God to give you wisdom to share with
people who may need your help to make good choices in their lives.
“Our Father, who art in
Heaven,
Hallowed
be Thy name.
Thy
kingdom come.
Thy
will be done,
On
earth as it is in heaven.
Give
us this day, our daily bread.
And
forgive us our trespasses,
As
we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.”
